this simple and elegant mounting suits the work well and is called Shibui Mounting

In the realm of Japanese aesthetics, shibui refers to an attribute of sublime subtlety or an understated elegance. I call the special mounting technique that I use on many of my works Shibui Mounting for it is a mounting that clearly presents the design and strength of the artpiece itself. In practical terms, a mounted piece has appropriate brackets on the back so it is "ready to hang." However, if the patron wishes, a piece mounted in this way, may later be framed.

Most of the pieces in the Art for Sale section of this website are presented with Shibui Mounting, and commissioned pieces may be completed as such upon request.
